One year ago, Bristol Animal Rescue Centre (Bristol A.R.C.) launched its foster scheme—and in just 12 months, the difference it has made is truly heart warming. Thanks to our amazing team of 58 dedicated foster volunteers, dozens of animals have found love, comfort, and safety while waiting for their forever homes.

How Fostering Changes Lives

Every time an animal goes into a foster home, it frees up space in the shelter for another animal in need. In the past year:

  • 58 cats were fostered for an average of 36 days each.
  • 20 dogs were fostered for an average of 23 days each.
  • Countless small animals have benefited from temporary, loving homes.

With an average foster stay of 30 days, these temporary homes provide a crucial bridge for animals who might need a little extra time to recover from illness, injury, or simply adjust to a new environment before adoption.

We understand that taking in a foster pet is a big commitment, which is why Bristol A.R.C. provides everything needed — food, bedding, toys, and vet care. Our foster carers only need to provide love, patience, and a safe space.
