With love and care Nala found her forever home.

Two-year-old Nala arrived at Bristol ARC in June 2024, overwhelmed and very anxious by her new environment. She exhibited fear-based behaviors, hiding and reacting defensively with hissing, lunging, and swiping. Her extreme distress highlighted the need for a slow, patient rehabilitation process.

Over weeks of gentle care, Nala began to relax, learning to trust her carers. She eventually blossomed into a playful and affectionate cat, though she retained her signature “tortie sass” and a preference for female carers.

Her adopters had the key ingredient: patience. By visiting Nala multiple times, they built trust and helped her recognize them, easing her transition. A collaborative rehoming plan ensured a smooth move to her forever home.

Animal Supervisor Fabienne Greig said: “Nala’s transformation shows the incredible power of patience and compassion. Seeing her thrive has been a joy and I am so grateful for the teams compassion and commitment to helping Nala recover over her 5 months with us.”
