Kola came to us earlier this year after a sudden change in her owner’s circumstances. When she first arrived, Kola was very worried by all the new sights, sounds and people. For the first few weeks, our team took things slowly, sitting quietly by her kennel, talking to her softly, and rewarding her for each little step forward.

With time she started to relax, and she soon built a lovely bond with her main carer, Ray. By the third week, she was wagging her tail when she saw Ray and even asking for gentle strokes. Not long after, we were treated to her true personality.

Over the following weeks, Kola grew in confidence. She made new friends among the team, enjoyed playdates with other dogs (sometimes a little too enthusiastically!), and even became a great role model for our puppies, showing them how to play. She bravely completed her muzzle training and health checks, which was a huge achievement for such a worried girl.

After plenty of time and patience, Kola was ready to look for her forever home. Eventually, the perfect family came along, a mother and her son. In a wonderful twist, Kola, who had once been so anxious around men, fell completely in love with her new dad.

We couldn’t be prouder of the progress Kola made during her time with us. It just goes to show what time, patience, and plenty of kindness can do. A huge thank you to our amazing team and to our supporters. Kola has found a wonderful new home where she can bond with her new family.
