Friends Reunited – Simon the Cat

After being missing for two months, Simon the cat was finally found by three kind members of the public near Cattle Market Road, close to Temple Meads. They brought him to Bristol Animal Rescue Centre.

Simon was very skinny and had clearly been surviving on scraps. Amazingly, he had travelled over six miles from his home in Shirehampton. On Friday, his relieved owner was finally reunited with him.

What to Do if You Find a Cat

If injured → Take the cat to the nearest vets straight away.

If not injured → Ask yourself: does it look lost, underweight, or lacking confidence?

Steps to follow:

Check for a collar and ring the number if there is one.

No collar? → Speak to nearby neighbours to see if anyone recognises the cat.

Remember: older cats can sometimes look a bit ragged. Before removing it, try local options first:

Post in local Facebook groups like Lost and Found Pets.

Paper collar the cat, this allows you to leave a message asking if it belongs to someone nearby.

Download printable paper collars here.

If no one comes forward, you can take the cat to a vet or to Bristol Animal Rescue Centre to be scanned for a microchip.

Thanks to kind people looking out for cats like Simon, more pets can be safely reunited with their families.
