Marcella and Alex Mercer adopted their dog Olive from us in 2018 and instantly fell in love with her. At age 13, Olive was an older dog but still incredibly lively and cuddly. They had 11 months with her before she sadly became ill and died, but her memory has endured and the couple haven’t stopped missing her.
Last week, Marcella and Alex got married at Syrencot in Wiltshire and, as part of their wedding day celebrations in lieu of party favours, they opted to make a donation to Bristol Animal Rescue Centre in memory of Olive.
The couple have since got another staffy, Bluebell (pictured in their wedding photo above), who was present on the day and of course took a starring role in the proceedings!
Olive meant so much to us so even though she’s no longer here, we wanted to honour her memory and make her a part of our special day. Making this donation was a great way to share just how much we love her – and Bluebell – and offer a sustainable gift that helps other dogs just like her to have a second chance at their happily ever after.
