A ‘misunderstood’ rescue dog is recreating famous Banksy artworks as part of an appeal to find him a forever home.
Bristol Animal Rescue Centre has launched a new appeal to find a home for a dog called Banksy (pictured here with Kaya from our Animal Care Team and volunteer dog walker Rob Hill).
As part of this campaign, Banksy the dog will be visiting some of the famous Banksy artworks dotted around Bristol on his walkies and is taking inspiration from those works to create his own paw print art on canvas, which will be auctioned off to raise funds for the Centre.
Banksy had a rough start in life, having passed between a few homes already, and is now looking for a consistent and patient home where he can settle.
He is a lovely dog with a cheeky personality. He loves training and is very eager to please, but he can get a bit boisterous and mouthy when he feels unsure as to how he should behave in certain situations.
Banksy needs to wear a muzzle during his walks and be exercised away from other dogs off their leads. He would also be best living alone without other dogs, cats or children.
He is a misunderstood dog with lots of potential, and we are sure that he will bring a great deal of joy to the right family.
So far, Banksy has painted his own version of Banksy’s famous ‘Cat and Dog’ artwork, using his nose and paws to spread the paint. The print was created using dog-friendly paint…and a great deal of dog treats!
Over the coming weeks, he will be painting more Banksy inspired works, with the whole set being put up for auction on our Facebook page in the New Year.
Banksy really enjoys creating the artworks, it’s a great enrichment activity for him to do with his carers and the brilliant thing about it is that every penny raised from his art will go towards helping, healing and homing the vulnerable animals in our care.
