Adopting a pet from Bristol A.R.C.

We’re delighted that you’ve chosen us to help you find the newest member of your family! Please read through our step by step guide to adoption carefully. We also have a helpful FAQs page to answer any burning questions you may have. At the end of our step by step guide you will find our ‘application to adopt an animal’ forms.

Please read through the pages below and our FAQs before calling us if you have a query.

IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE: Only visitors with an appointment will be allowed onsite as our Rehoming Centre (reception, kennels, cattery and small animal housing) remains closed to the general public. This is a big change for us – we have made this decision to keep you and our team as safe as possible.

We are expecting a high number of applications, but are currently working with low staff numbers. Please be patient with us - it will likely take up to two weeks for us to process your application. Please avoid chasing us for responses so we can get through applications as quickly as possible.

Important things to think about before adopting a rescue pet

We know how easy it is to see a picture or cute video of one of our gorgeous animals and immediately fall in love (we do it all the time!). However, please keep in mind that getting a pet is a huge commitment and will have an impact on you financially – we ask that you put careful thought into what will be involved in caring for a pet and make sure that everyone in your household is ready for the responsibility.

Whether a pet is with you for a short while or 15 + years they require a big commitment. Before filling out our adoption form please think about some of the important things you may need to consider, download our helpful leaflet below to help you think about what pet will suit you best – this helps us make the best match possible for you.
